Overtime 11-8: how Maccabi Rishon finished off Maccabi Tel Aviv

Maccabi Rishon won the game in overtime, taking the extra period 11-8 to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 93-90. The visitors had only got there by winning the fourth quarter 27-16.

That fourth quarter wiped out everything the home side had built over three periods. The 27 points were Maccabi Tel Aviv's best return of any quarter, and the teams were level when regulation ended.

He added 6 rebounds and 4 assists without a single turnover, finishing with a PIR of 21. His efficiency inside gave Maccabi Rishon a reliable option when their three-point attempts were not falling.

Qua Grant was the other driving force, with 16 points, 6 assists and 5 steals for a PIR of 18. V.J. King also scored 16 in 37 minutes, and Josh Freund added 13.

Maccabi Rishon have their first win of the season and move to 1-2, 12th of 14. Maccabi Tel Aviv suffer their first defeat, dropping to 2-1 and 4th place.

The loss leaves Maccabi Tel Aviv behind Hapoel Jerusalem, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Hapoel Eilat, all still 2-0. It came despite Roman Sorkin's 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks, with 6/7 free throws and a PIR of 24.

Sorkin ranked 12th of 77 rated players in the league by TeamKeys Rating last season. Jaylen Hoard gave 13 points and 7 rebounds, close to his 2025/2026 averages of 12.3 and 6.8.
